RAFAL

Small town in the Vega Baja del Segura very well connected by road with the towns of Guardamar del Segura, Torrevieja and Orihuela and that despite its small size has a great historical wealth, as Iberians, Romans, Arabs and Visigoths left their mark in one way or another in the municipality.

The Church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario is the main building and the nerve center of Rafal. It was built in 1639 and has paintings of great artistic value, as many of them are attributed to the great school of Ribera. It is therefore a visit that is really worthwhile, along with its Ethnographic Museum.

Visiting Rafal during its Easter Week festivities will allow you to experience in person "la Graná", one of the most vibrant moments of this religious festival that takes place at dawn on Easter Sunday. In October, when the Moors and Christians groups fill the streets with vibrant music and color. During the month of April, Andalusian inspiration fills the streets with joyful melodies and Sevillanas. Christmas, finally, will give you the opportunity to attend the pastoral zarzuela "The shepherds of Bethlehem".

Town with a rich gastronomy, are famous, its salad of lisones, its "arroz clarico", the vegetable or the tasty cod stew. as well as traditional pastries: monas, paparajotes, fritters and almojábenas, in addition to rice pudding and almond cake that will delight visitors.
